When starting any new project or hobby, don't forget to check out the local library. I went to our school media center. It is amazing what you can learn just from reading a few helpful books! (Okay, that's the teacher in me)

I have been enjoying "The First-time Gardener" by Pattie Barron
Oh, and all the people at Home Depot, Lowe's and Pikes are wonderful, and love to talk about plants!

if i can find my martha stewart gardening book, and also my lawn book (actually, that one belongs to the boy, and i'm sure that doesnt surprise you), i'll shlepp down the block and lend them to you. i'll make a note of looking when i get home.
