UPDATE: None of the plants in the front bed made it. I think we're either going to try again by tilling some garden soil into the dirt, or use the turtle as a planter. I'm leaning towards planter. Sorry, neighbors.

The start of the season
This is a new bed where we're planting some veggies. Unfortunately, the watermelon and cucumbers don't seem to be doing well. Hopefully I can replace the this weekend since it's so early in the season. The turtle is acting as temporary weed control - I thought we were pretty creative, but I wonder what the neighbors think?

Garden Preview - The Roses
Aren't they beautiful? Now that the roses are well established, I only have to feed them every six months and keep them deadheaded. I wish you could smell them, too.
The Return!
I was going to begin a new blog about my garden, eating dairy and soy free, and my career, but I stumbled onto this little gem from my past. I am going to continue what I started FIVE years ago when I was just learning to garden and cook with fresh/better foods. I was on quite a roll, but then my garden died (bad yard placement), summer happened, and the blog fell off my radar. And then I made a life changing decision.
I went to law school.
I started studying for the LSAT after the summer of 2007, applied to law school in early 2008, and then begin part-time in the evenings in the Fall of 2008. Now I am about to graduate and have no idea where my career is going to take me. I was amused to read the post that pushed me over the edge in my past career. These posts definitely are part of who I am.
Recently I discovered I am allergic to dairy, so I have changed the way I eat and hardly ever eat out. I wanted my blog to be a place I could reference my own recipes and share them with people who choose to live diary free for whatever reason. I'm not a vegan, and many recipe sites with dairy free cooking lean that way. I have also cut out eating processed soy, and many replacement dairy products are soy based. My health has been so much better now that I am focused on good nutrition and have started only eating what I cook at home. Hopefully my journey can at least provide some amusement.

Welcome back to my blog!
